Razors Fire back at FlameThrower!
The girls put out their best efforts on Saturday afternoon, the flamethrower came in but the girls prevailed and scored some runs. The first inning the girls started out patiently and waited on pitches to quickly move ahead 3 runs. Elayna pitched very well and kept the score close. In the top of the second the girls were blown away as the ‘flame thrower’ came in struck out the sides. The Razors maintained their lead and did not give up a run. Logan led the 3rd off with a sharp grounder and let the flame thrower know the razors were not just going to let balls blaze by without putting a punch on them. BigE opened the game up with a line drive to center and the hitting was contagious as Gorilla matched it up with another hit and the aggressive base running paid off as 2 runs scored. There was no fear in the eyes of the razors only the strength that they would continue to work hard and win this game. The coach pulled them together and made it clear they were doing a good job in the field so there weren’t going to be any changes to keep the team loose and the game close. Unfortunately, the 4th inning things started to unravel, a few errant plays put the bases loaded. The flame thrower batted and hit a whopper that put the Middletown up with a considerable lead. Another errant play and another run was scored. The girls regrouped and closed out the inning now down by 3. They worked hard the next 3 innings to get on base and try to make it up, unfortunately they did not prevail. No bother, the girls are doing a great job on the field and off as the team cheers on their players in the dugout and keeps the game close due to their enthusiasm on and off the field.
!Red sees red
The season starts!
and its a whole new ball game for the entire crew. Luckily, many played fall ball or experienced this type of ball during the tournament. We have reached the majors and the 11-12 y/olds are much BIGGER as expected. All that said, the girls put on quite a display in their first game. Holding BTNL to 1 run until the third inning.
The girls lead the game off with a walk, Danielle rounded to third on passed balls and a timely hit by 'Gorilla' Gerdy moved us up 1 zip!.
Danielle took the mound and threw strike after strike, K'ing the first and 3rd batter and a line shot to second was easily scooped up by Bubbles!
Red Razors were up! The second inning the bat s were quiet but in the bottom of the inning some signican plays made as Hannah took a grounder and Gorilla gobbled up a foul ball to keep the score at a tie!
The floodgates opened up in the 3rd and the team started to show their inexperience. The worked it out and were able to get 3 outs, end the inning down by six. Big hits and some complications in the infield did not help. Another great gobble by Gerdy behind the plate and Danielle's steady hand striking out 2.
Its good to see the girls are not concerned about the sped of the ball or size of the pitcher. they continue to hit as they have in the past. Nice touches of the ball by Megan, Madison, Miranda and Danielle shows signs of promise as the season moves on.
The girls showed a lot of grit and hard work, although they didnt' come up with a win they did show they can compete at this stage and will work at it!
